AvidEditor Posts Moronic Strawman Bullshit

April 2, 2008 · 15 Comments

In his latest bit of bullshittery, AvidEditor tries to rope liberals into supporting our Lord and Master, Ted Turner, and his out-of-context quote about how Iraqi insurgents could be considered patriots by other Iraqis. Turner’s error, of course, is oversimplification.

By painting all Iraqis with the same brush, one could make the argument that all insurgent groups are simply “patriots” trying to free their unified country from foreign invaders. In reality, I’m not sure that’s the case. I think most of the violence in Iraq currently is only marginally focused on expelling the occupiers, and mainly on jockeying for position in a post-occupation Iraq. Some factions (particularly ones we’re bribing) would actually benefit from keeping us there longer, while others would prefer us out sooner rather than later.

Not that I expect a rabid bigot like Avideditor to grasp that kind of complexity, of course. What do you expect from someone who thinks climate change is a myth?

TP Watch Engages in Baseless Extrapolation

April 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

In their latest internet wankery (aka interwankery), the boys at TP Watch accuse a frequent ThinkProgress poster of being “pro-terrorist” because he speaks out against a particular military technique – the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to launch decapitation strikes against suspected targets.

It’s a well-reported fact that these strikes often miss their intended targets, instead striking wedding parties or other innocent civilians. However, this does not matter to the conservatroll mindset. You must be in lockstep support of every military technique, be it torture, rendition, indefinite detention, or remote control assassination, or you support the terrorists.

Sounds an awful lot like fascism to me.
